Rice-And-Stew-Very-Plenty

Hi Peeps,

Here I go again with more to say on my campaign trail. Today my subject is INVITATIONS and RSVPs.

Unfortunately most of our first encounters with the acronym RSVP is the joke "Rice And Stew Very Plenty!" Now this might very well explain why we handle invitations the way we do. The actual meaning is Répondez s'il vous plaît- in French, or please reply in English!

Very often, we get invitations and they more often than not come with a name and phone number of a certain somebody, supposedly close to the host or hostess.

The point to that number being there, is for us to:

1. CALL and confirm that we have received the invitation and will be attending. And oh!... please do indicate or ask permission to come with an uninvited guest/ children.

2. CALL to acknowledge receipt and decline to attend and or name someone who will be attending in your stead( if its a public function. Please don't do this for a private event. Believe it or not inviting people to a private function takes emotional effort. Don't impose your friends on others)

3. Call for directions or assistance if you have a problem getting to the venue.

Its an unhappy sight to see empty chairs being held for invited guests who never really turn up, In fact it qualifies to be ranked as rude conduct, not RSVP-ing. Sorry if this hurts

With All My Love... as usual
