APPLICATION TO BE A MOTHER

On Thursday of last week when most schools were having their end of term parties (our day) I saw a most worrying sight on the Adenta SDA bit of the MiDA gang of four highways. Along the median of the highway, which is a thick about four foot high concrete wall, I saw a lady I am assuming to be the mother of the two children she was with do the most insane act i have seen in a while.

Mother hoisted child one over the concrete wall, and put her on the other side of the highway, clearly warning her to stay put. She climbs over the median herself, and then a Samaritan passes her child two. Then they proceed to cross the second half of the 6 or so lane highway.

What am i livid about? What mother in her right senses will pass a child of about five years over a median on such a major highway and ask her to stay put whiles she brings another? I know some of you who know the road might have a plea for her because pedestrian foot bridges are still under construction and when done will be far in between.  My answer to you that : AND SO WHAT?

The question I would have loved to ask this lady: What would it cost you to walk to the intersection where the cars actually stop and where she could have walked across, firmly gripping the wrist of both kids instead of leaving them unattended all be it for two minutes on a highway with cars literally flying past? I am sure two minutes is more than enough time for trouble....

Too many times I see things and i wonder, were we all  to sit a exam to qualify to be mothers (or parents) how many people would have made it ? Needless to say that the image haunted me for days  and i have wondered severally over the last four days, what goes through the minds of women who are trying without success to have babies  when the see what i saw.

Endangering the life of a minor is a crime, is it not? Where is the law when you need it? Of course not to take her children away but certainly scare her enough into never doing that again.

  1. Clearly mother is not the wise woman she is supposed to be!
